What do you brag about?
We don’t like to think of ourselves as “braggarts,” do we?
But we all have details in our lives that we’re particularly proud of—and these are the topics we like to weave oh-so-subtly into our conversations.
So what are the details you’re most proud of?
Is it a skill you’ve mastered or the car you drive?
Is it your family’s reputation or your hard-earned physique?
When we have been given blessings, its natural to express joy and gratitude for them.
But if you’re a Christian, you have something even greater to tell people about:
“Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24, NASB)
Your relationship with God is the greatest treasure you could ever possess.
An ounce of His lovingkindness outshines the brightest diamond. And just a glimpse of His righteousness and justice puts our reputations to shame.
Knowing God and getting to experience who He is in daily life? This is a topic worth weaving into conversations!
So take some time this week to take inventory of your riches.
And no, I don’t mean you should make a list of your financial assets!
Instead, make a list of God’s characteristics—His holiness, kindness, compassion, love, power, patience, faithfulness, etc.
And then note the times in your life where you have experienced each characteristic personally.
These are your riches: intimate, relational experiences of our great God.
That’s something to tell the world about! So let’s brag on Him today.
